In July 2026 the Chief Conservator of Forests described volunteers as crucial partners in wildlife conservation, as reported by Mongabay.
BBCF volunteers are first responders and a main source of information on wildlife crime, working with Forest Department field staff to rescue, treat and release animals. As of December 2023, they had helped 56,400 wild animals and birds.
